Asus VivoTab Smart hits Australian retailers

Authorised Asus resellers will also get their hands on the tablet

The Asus VivoTab Smart will be on shelves in major Australian retailers this week.

Retailers include JB HiFi, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith Electronics, Bing Lee, Office Works, The Good Guys, Retravision, Costco, EB Games, Radio Rentals, Leading Edge and BSR. Authorised Asus resellers will also have access to the device, which comes in black or white.

VivoTab Smart is a Windows 8 tablet with a 10.1-inch HD display featuring an Intel Atom dual-core processor.

The device contains an LED-backlit display with 1366 x 768 HD resolution. In addition, IPS display technology delivers 178-degree wide viewing angles and provides clear and bright images, even when seen from the side. It also has five-point multi-touch for fluid fingertip control with Windows 8.

Asus claims the VivoTab Smart has 9.5 hours battery life on a single charge and is compatible with both Windows 8 store and desktop apps, along with plug and play support for a wide range of existing peripherals.

The 8-megapixel rear camera has auto-focus, a five-element lens and 1080p Full HD video recording. It will retail for $599.

Hi, Can you please dig into it a bit more and find out the exact date of retail for Australian retailers for the Actual Vivotab, not the RT version. This means the Vivotab tf810c and vivotab smart ME400c. I have seen some retailers stock the RT version of the vivotab in December and was not impressed.
