Adams returns to Australia as Avnet VP and GM

Global IT distributor, Avnet Technology Solutions, has named Darren Adams as its vice-president and general manager for Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), commencing January 28, 2013.
Based in Sydney, Adams will be responsible for all Avnet operations across the region, and report to Avnet Asia-Pacific (APAC) president, William Chu.
Adams first joined Avnet in 2002 as a regional sales leader for the company APAC business, before relocating to the US in 2008 to take on the role of business transformation vice-president. In this position, he developed a distribution relationship with Cisco Systems.
A year later, he was promoted to supplier business acceleration vice-president, before he received the Avnet Chairman’s Award in recognition of his leadership, and was named general manager for Avnet Americas’ Cisco Solutions group in 2010. During his time in this position, the business grew by double digits year-over-year (YoY).
“The experience Adams gained from his assignments in North America will serve him well in this new leadership role,” Chu said. “As he did when he joined the team in the Americas, Adams will bring new knowledge and perspectives to his team in A/NZ.”
“Adams will also help us strengthen our focus on profitable growth across the region and continue our path toward providing complete solutions for our channel partners.”
