Vintek deploys IBM PureFlex for Tonkin Consulting

It will be replacing existing HP switching hardware and servers

IBM and its business partner, Vintek, have been selected by Tonkin Consulting to deploy an IBM PureFlex System.

Tonkin will be replacing its existing HP switching hardware and servers with the IBM PureFlex System, which integrates server, storage, networking and software. It will also involve an integrated v7000 storage as well as additional IBM system networking, system x server and tape storage products. The new system will also enable Tonkin to create and deploy a private cloud providing disaster recovery for its offices in South Australia, Queensland and Northern Territory.

“Our incumbent systems became out-dated and lacked both the reliability and functional integration needed to serve growing client demands,” Tonkin Consulting CEO, Gerry Doyle, said. Vintek will deploy fully-integrated IBM management and data systems across all Tonkin Consulting operations sites and assets.

Tonkin also plans to expand its work with Vintek and IBM to support its modelling applications and a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) system due to launch in mid-2013.

“Our objective in working with Tonkin Consulting has been to deliver a holistic approach to infrastructure, which supports the firm’s long-term growth strategy,” Vintek managing director, Paul Vinton, said. The deal was signed in October and the implementation of the new system will be completed this month.
