On October 2, Microsoft announced that it would be launching a series of 32 temporary pop-up stores across the US and Canada on October 26 which would sell its Surface RT tablet.
They are designed to increase its retail presence and directly challenge competitors, Apple.
While nothing similar has been cemented for the local market, ARN reached out to Microsoft Australia regarding a similar approach, and received the following statement from its public relations representative:
"Please note Microsoft has said it is coming to market with a strong network of retail partners in Australia."
The wording of the statement suggests that it may not necessarily be launching pop-ups, but will significantly increase its retail market presence across major Australian retailers.
