Apple's iPhone 5 is available to pre-order now.
Apple has begun taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on its Australian online store, while Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile have all announced their pricing and plan details for the new smartphone.
Unveiled yesterday morning at a media event in San Francisco, the iPhone 5 is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models with Australian outright pricing starting at $799 for the 16GB model. The 32GB model sells for $899 and the 64GB version will cost $999.
All three models of the iPhone 5 in both black and white variants are available to pre-order from the Australian online Apple Store now. A listed delivery timeframe of between Friday 21 September to Thursday 27 September applied for all iPhone 5 pre-orders at the time of writing, though shipping time has since blown out to two weeks for all models.

The iPhone 5 goes on sale in Australia next Friday 21 September, the same time as the US launch date. Before last year's iPhone 4S, Australians had to wait a number of weeks after the US to buy the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4 when they were released in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
Along with Australia and the US, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the UK are the other regions to get the iPhone 5 next week. Apple said yesterday it expects the iPhone 5 to be available in "over 100 countries" by December 2012.
Meanwhile, Australian telcos Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and Virgin Mobile have all announced their pricing for the iPhone 5 this afternoon.
