Southern Cross ICT lab to create 60 jobs in Victoria

A new $6 million office and innovation facility, established by Southern Cross Computer Systems (SCCS) in Melbourne, will create 60 new jobs over the next three years for Victoria.

The ICT facility, named the Southern Cross Innovation Centre, was opened by Technology Minister, Gordon Rich-Phillips, in Hawthorn East.

The 60 positions, which add to the 1300 Victorian ICT jobs created in the last financial year, are part of the Coalition Government's $85 million investment in an ICT plan designed to help create a business environment that attracts new ICT expertise and investment, according to Rich-Phillips.

“This laboratory will help businesses find new ways to adopt emerging technology, store their information and access software remotely,” he said. “This will enable customers to test the impact of new functions, systems and tools to improve productivity, provider greater flexibility and make information available to their increasingly mobile workforce.”

According to SCCS managing director, Mark Kalmus, the centre will help his company deliver IT solutions to help customers keep pace with the demands of changing business environments.

He added that SCCS will focus on enhancing its skills in the industry’s advanced IT to help customers fully exploit its benefits.
