Data capture and information management solutions provider, Intermec, has ceased its partnership with distributor, Sektor, as a result of the latter’s lack of specialised focus on the Intermec brand and product portfolio.
The decision was made earlier this year when Sektor announced that it would be taking on the Motorola product, according to Intermec A/NZmanaging director, Tony Repaci.
“We felt that they already had a very full portfolio for data capture, and they do represent other brands as well,” he said.
“It was going to be difficult to get the focus and mindshare when they had so many other brands, so we made a decision based on what they were looking to do.”
Repaci said that the cancellation means that it can focus on its other distributor for the region, Avnet, which has been on board since 2004.
“What we wanted to do was to have a distributor partner that was going to be focused on the Intermec brand, and with Avnet, we have that. They promote the entire Intermec product set well,” Repaci said.
