Express Data offers new eWaste service

The partnership will allow for e-waste to be processed for reuse or dismantled and recycled with a 98 per cent recovery rate rather than ending up in land fill

ICT distributor, Express Data, will soon launch a new eWaste service that enables the Channel to dispose of their customers’ unwanted, superseded or broken IT equipment.

Commencing September 1, the service will allow all resellers to add an extra service to their client through processing of e-Waste.

According to Express Data CEO, David Gage, the company is continually looking to expand its services line of business to match the channel communities’ requirements.

“We have engaged with international e-waste recycling partner, TES-AMM, to bring to market the first channel based e-waste management program,” he said.

He claimed the partnership will allow for e-waste to be processed for reuse or dismantled and recycled with a 98 per cent recovery rate rather than ending up in land fill.

The offering requires the end user or reseller to have a minimum of 20 IT units to be eligible for the program.

Express Data services line of business manager, Peter Stein, said all they need to do is count the number of different types of items before boxing them, place a purchase order to match the volume.

All the transportation arrangements for collection and delivery for processing will be made by Express Data.

Other options such as data security and asset recording will also be offered.

Reuse is also another option that will be offered, depending on the marketability of the items.

Selected items will be cleaned and made available to charitable organisations or resold depending on the end customer’s preference.

On completion of the recycle or reuse process, Express Data will issue a certificate including a list of equipment received and any information regarding the data cleansing and asset recording.

A great initiative from Express Data and another example of their forward green thinking. We look forward to working with them and providing eWaste services to their partners in the channel.
