Apple roars about OS X Mountain Lion downloads topping 3 million

Never one to shy away from touting positive milestones, Apple announced Monday that its OS X Mountain Lion software has topped 3 million downloads in just four days, the fastest sales start ever for one of its OS X releases.
The software, available through the Mac App Store, costs $US20 as an upgrade to the year-old Lion (which was downloaded 1 million times on its first day of availability) or Snow Leopard releases.
Among what Apple claims are 200 new features are a central notification system, improved iCloud support and Gatekeeper security. (More specs here: apple.com/osx/specs.)

IT shops have said they're taking a wait-and-see approach to Mountain Lion, which is more focused on the needs of consumers than the enterprise.
