Westcon Group, a distributor of unified communications, networking, data centre and security products, has launched a refurbished office, continuing its push as a value-added distributor.
It has upgraded its technical and warehouse facilities at its Sydney premises, increasing the size of its warehouse by half to 2300 square metres. This will help the company with a faster turnaround time for deliveries to its resellers.
“[The new office] is reflective of the shift of our business,” Westcon managing director, Australia, David Henderson, said, adding that the complexity of the new technology it is distributing meant a new push in infrastructure beyond “physical resources”.
The company will add more staff to support its value-added role and plans to increase its staff by up to 15 per cent, he said.
It has also doubled its customer service staff in the past year.
The new facilities also boast a new integration centre, which will help Westcon’s resellers to a dedicated staging facility.
“By configuring the solutions to turn-key stage on our premises, resellers can immediately save money on freight and spend less time on their customers’ sites carrying out implementations. This means less disruption for the end-user and faster completion of the project for the reseller,” Henderson said.
Distribution is no longer just about PCs and their components, noted Dean Douglas, CEO of Westcon, who visited Australia for the event.
With new technology like Cloud, Big Data, and the advent of different devices, the distribution business has also evolved, he said.
Westcon has seen rapid growth in the last year. Its revenues in the last quarter grew 42 per cent last compared to last year.
The expansion of Westcon’s Sydney premises coincides with the appointment of additional staff locally and in many of the company’s branch offices.
“The expansion of the Australian facilities is part of the investment we are making in the region as we seek to respond to the growing demand not only for the products we represent but the support and services we also provide to resellers and their customers,” Wendy O’Keeffe, executive vice president of Asia-Pacific, Westcon Group, said.
Westcon's portfolio includes Aruba, Avaya, CA Technologies, Check Point, Cisco, Emerson, EMC, F5, Juniper, McAfee, Palo Alto Networks, Polycom, Radware and VCE, among others.
