US-based eBooks and audiobooks distributor, OverDrive, has opened an office in Melbourne to help it strengthen relationships with libraries, publishers, and booksellers in the A/NZ market.
The local hub will provide offerings from Booki.sh, an Australian eBook company it acquired in March. Its other Australian partners include Australian New Holland Publishers, Text Publishing Company, and NewSouth Books. It is also working with authorised reseller, Softlink, to expand its digital content services for schools in Australia.
OverDrive plans to provide localised, and personalised training and technical support for its partner network. Its goal is to enable instant access to eBooks and audiobooks, and help integrate digital content, and improve user experience.
“From our base in Melbourne, we’re supporting relationships and further extending OverDrive’s services for libraries, publishers, booksellers, and readers,” OverDrive international sales vice-president, Claudia Weissman, said.
The distributor named its new team at the Australian Library and Information Association Conference in Sydney on July 10 to 13.
