Australian enterprise resource planning (ERP) and business intelligence (BI) software provider, Pronto Software, has launched a carbon tracking application that will help educate Australian businesses on where and how power is being consumed with tools to monitor and manage carbon consumption and output.
The launch follows the implementation of the Australian Carbon Tax on July 1, which will see the nation’s top 500 polluters pay a starting fee of $23 per ton of carbon emissions.
Developed by Pronto’s research and development team in Melbourne, the product will be embedded in its integrated ERP and BI solution, Pronto Xi, and will target a range of business operations and sectors, according to Pronto Xi product manager, Steve Hafey.
“Pronto Software will offer its customers the ability to identify and quantify carbon output to assist them in establishing strategies to more effectively manage their processes using real insight,” Hafey said.
Once implemented, the application records activity data during normal business operations, calculates emissions, and presents results.
“If you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it,” he said. “By identifying carbon hotspots across specific business operations, it becomes easier for managers to see where potential inefficiencies can be better managed.”
