IT security company, Sophos, has signed Adelaide-based IT solutions provider and Sophos platinum partner, Logic Plus, as the first managed service provider (MSP) for its Mobile Control product in Australia.
Sophos is in the process of signing two additional MSPs, but has yet to reveal who these will be.
The agreement commenced six months ago as Sophos first approached Logic Plus with the offer.
A factor in Sophos’ selection of Logic Plus, apart from the two companies existing relationship, is that the MSP has its own local datacentre.
“A key issue for customers is data staying on site,” Logic Plus marketing and product manager, Simon Parr, said.
“With our datacentre in Adelaide, we can take the product to market quickly. We’re an agile organisation, so we can move quickly and change with the market.”
Mobile Control is a product from is a mobile device management suite designed to enable administrators to enforce a consistent policy across a company’s fleet of mobile devices. It allows control at the security and application level of the mobile device, and works across all operating systems in the mobile space, including iOS, Windows, and Android. Monitoring and management is done through a central dashboard.
In addition to deploying the solution for its customers, Logic Plus will provide support through its own help desk.
Parr believes that demand for the Mobile Control solution will be widespread due to the proliferation of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) across all industries. In particular, he foresees interest from the healthcare, Government and education sectors.
“We’re seeing the opportunities in the mobile protection space grow and the Mobile Control product was the logical choice to add to our offerings,” Parr said.
“We see that concerns surrounding BYOD are the key driver of customer interest in mobile device management, so we have plans to extend the scope of Mobile Control from servicing company-owned devices to an all-inclusive strategy that covers devices brought from home."
According to Sophos Asia-Pacific director, Rob Forsyth, the partnership, as a ‘first of its kind’ for the vendor in the region, will not only provide Sophos with a growth opportunity, but keep Logic Plus ahead of the market with a strategic advantage over competitors as Mobile Control is not restricted to a single operating system.
While Parr claims there is natural sales revenue to be gained from the partnership, and in significant numbers, he said that the exact revenue boost that will be generated is difficult to estimate.
