Emerging Cloud networking vendor, Arista Networks, has inked a distribution agreement with Nextgen Distribution in a deal that will help the Silicon Valley company target enterprise customers.
Arista, founded in 2004, was recently ranked by LinkedIn as the hottest Silicon Valley start-up. It provides cloud networking products for large data centre and high-performance computing environments.
Nextgen stood out thanks to its connections in the enterprise market, Arista's MD, Mike Bosch, said.
Nextgen’s local market expertise spans networking, storage, virtualisation, security and the fast growing technology of “big data”, Bosch said. “They are a good fit because of their focus on enterprise. They bring a lot of value- add as a boutique company and good contacts, and a very good attitude,” said Bosch, noting that the deal with Nextgen is “key” to the company’s growth strategy in A/NZ. Arista and Nextgen also plan to work together on channel development and marketing programs to recruit new channel partners and create end user demand. Nextgen believes that Arista is poised to for rapid growth and market share gains in the core switching market, according its managing director, John Walters. “Any enterprise looking for powerful performance, low latency and an open-source operating system, need to have a serious look at Arista” he said. Arista’s current core markets are seismic data processing, high frequency trading, and Cloud service providers; it has 40 customers in Australia including over half that are in the banking sector.
It provides a portfolio of 10 Gigabit, 40 Gigabit and 1 Gigabit ethernet switches. It has been selling in Australia since 2010. "Recent moves to standard, built in 10 GbE interfaces by all the mainstream server vendors are making 10 Gigabit Ethernet the default network in data centres,” said Bosch. Nextgen Distribution was founded by industry veteran John Walters in 2011, with the help of private investors following the consolidation in the enterprise distribution market in Australia.
Nextgen signed on Oracle as its first and lead vendor last year following its creation to expand Oracle's growth in the Australian market.
