ICT solutions vendor, Huawei, is increasing its commitment to improve its communications technology and to address the issue of information security challenges within the industry.
Huawei Founder and CEO, Ren Zhengfei, outlined the company’s plans at the recent St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to him, the key to the future development of the electronic information industry lies in cyberspace technology.
“Cyberspace is a new strategic domain unlike physical territory. What makes the two domains different is that competition in cyberspace is not characterised by occupying territories and forming closed positions, but by being openly accessible,” Zhengfei said.
Huawei projects that network traffic will grow by 75 times in the next 10 years, while mobile broadband traffic will grow by more than 2000 times.
It said that the creation of data pipes wide enough to manage huge amounts of data is key to the development of the telecommunications industry. “Data, by nature, tends to be open. What we can do is leverage the full potential of data. As data flooding increases far faster than prevention technology develops, the whole industry faces information security challenges,” Zhengfei claimed.
He mentioned that instead of just looking at the complexities that information creates, businesses should utilise it to adopt a positive attitude towards data floods.
