The Doro PhoneEasy 615
Vodafone has become the latest telco to sell a mobile phone designed specifically for senior Australians, the Doro PhoneEasy 615.
Initially launched on the Optus network in April, the Doro PhoneEasy 615 is designed with older users in mind. It has extra large buttons, a clear display with large characters and is compatible with a wide variety of hearing aids.
"There's more than meets the eye with the Doro PhoneEasy 615," said Ross Parker, General Manager of Devices at Vodafone. "A lot of care and consideration has gone into the design of this mobile phone to make activities like calling and texting easier than ever before," he said.
"While the Doro PhoneEasy 615 doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a smartphone, it is nonetheless a clever phone that makes using a mobile phone an absolute pleasure."
The Doro PhoneEasy 615 handset claims to have an extra loud a speaker in order to cater for users with hearing difficulties and is compatible with M3/T3 or higher hearing aids.
The phone has a basic 3.2 megapixel camera with zoom and LED flash, a security button that can contact up to five pre-assigned contacts simultaneously and comes bundled with a charging cradle.
The Doro PhoneEasy 615 isn't the first seniors phone to be sold in Australia. Doro's previous PhoneEasy 410s sold through Telechoice retail stores, while Telstra has brought to market the EasyTouch Discovery 3 and the EasyCall 2 handsets, both designed for older users.
The Doro PhoneEasy 615 is available through Vodafone for $149 but can also be purchased on the company's $19 contract plan over 24 months.
