CEOs and top management executives alike recently participated in the 2012 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.
The fundraiser was initiated by the St Vincent de Paul Society to raise awareness of the real facts of homelessness.
Held for the first time at Carriageworks, Eveleigh, all they were provided with to pass the night was a cardboard, some soup, bread and tea. Participants were allowed to bring along their own sleeping bags.
Top management exectives from the IT industry present included UXC Connect's Ian Poole, LandMark White Group's Paul Fitzpatrick, Gridstone's Lembit Pikkat, Eaton Corporation's Richard Jenman, EMC's David Webster and Hitachi Data Systems' Neville Vincent and SAP Australia's Shane Grobler.
"We in the IT sector are probably in the higher range of jobs; we are reasonably well paid. It's up to us to assist people who are less fortunate than us," Poole said.
NSW was one of the eight venues nationwide that the event was held at and the CEOs did their best to raise funds and awareness for the issue of homelessness.
