Toshiba Tablet AT330: The world's first 13.3in Android tablet

Toshiba has expanded its Android tablet range in Australia by releasing three new devices, including a huge 13.3in model, the AT330.

Called the Excite 13 in the US market, Toshiba says the renamed AT330 "delivers more screen real estate than any other tablet on the market." It will retail for $699.

The AT330's 13.3in screen is an AutoBrite LED backlit display with a resolution of 1600x900, but it has a comparatively low pixel density of just 120ppi when compared with Apple's new iPad (264ppi).

The AT330 comes with a micro-USB port, a micro HDMI port and a full-sized SD card slot. It charges via a proprietary dock connector. Toshiba promises the battery will last for up to 13 hours with seven days of standby time.

The Toshiba AT330 is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor with GeForce graphics, has 1GB of RAM and comes with 16GB of internal memory.

Along with the world's first 13in Android tablet, Toshiba has also released 7.7in and 10.1in sized tablets, called the AT270 ($539) and AT330 ($539), respectively.

"Available in three screen sizes – 7.7” (AT270), 10.1” (AT300) and 13.3” (AT330), the stylish line-up of new Android powered tablets offers a choice for consumers depending on their style for viewing content," said Justin White, Toshiba Australia's product marketing manager.

All three of Toshiba's new tablets run Google's latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, feature 5-megapixel rear-facing and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras and come with expandable memory. The new Toshiba tablets are Wi-Fi-only models with no 3G or 4G connectivity available.

Toshiba's new Android tablet range will be available through major retailers in Australia from "late June".
