Telstra announces HTC One XL

HTC One XL is Telstra's latest 4G smartphone

HTC's One XL smartphone will be sold in Australia exclusively through Telstra, the telco revealed today.

The One XL is just the fourth smartphone to work on Telstra's 4G network in Australia. It is now available to pre-order online and will be sold in Telstra stores from Tuesday 5 June.

The HTC One XL is best described as a 4G-capable version of the HTC One X, with the "L" denoting LTE capabilities. It looks almost identical to the One X but it is powered by a dual-core rather than a quad-core processor. It comes with 32GB of internal memory, the same as the One X.

The HTC One XL joins the HTC Velocity 4G and the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G and comes on the back of last week's announcement of the HTC Titan 4G, the first 4G-capable Windows Phone device.

"The first thing you notice with the HTC One XL is the stunning industrial design," said Ben Hodgson, Country Manager, HTC Australia and New Zealand. "It's slim, light and beautifully finished with a tough polycarbonate unibody."

The 4G network used by Telstra is best described as an LTE enablement of its Next G network. It runs on the LTE 1800MHz network band but "switches across" to the Next G network when 4G coverage is not available.

"With ripping speeds and great coverage on Telstra's 4G and 3G network technologies the HTC One XL is our most complete smartphone to date," said Hodgson.

The HTC One XL naturally has all the same features of the One X sans processor. This includes a large 4.7in Super IPS LCD2 with a HD resolution of 1280x720, a Near Field Communications (NFC) chip, and an 8-megapixel camera with backside-illuminated sensor.

The One XL will be available in dark grey. The design uses a single block of polycarbonate and means the phone lacks a removable battery, doesn't have a microSD card slot for extra storage and uses a micro-SIM rather than a full-sized SIM card. The One XL runs the latest 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version of Google's Android operating system and is skinned with HTC's Sense 4.0 UI.

Other features include the ability to take a photo while shooting HD video (called "double shutter"), Dropbox integration with 25GB of free storage, and the ability to sync iTunes playlists automatically. The One XL also comes standard with Beats Audio qualities, a direct result of HTC's "strategic partnership" with the Beats By Dr. Dre audio company.

Additionally, Telstra has promised the first 300 customers who pre-order the HTC One XL online will receive a free pair of Beats Solo on-ear headphones valued at $279.

The HTC One XL is available for $6 per month on Telstra's $59 Freedom Connect Plan over 24 months (a total of $65 per month). The plan includes $550 worth of calls and MMS messages, unlimited SMS messages and voicemail and 1.5GB of data per month.

Alternatively, the HTC One XL is $0 per month on Telstra's $79 Freedom Connect Plan over 24 months (a total of $79 per month). This plan includes $800 worth of calls and MMS messages, unlimited SMS messages and voicemail, and 2GB of data per month.

Well i have had a one s a while now, and that i don't have this difficulty, the only thing that i think is notable is it gets genuinely warm with regard to heavy utilizing. But standard using as well as a level above that? is not any problem. I would recommend Htc 1 s
