OS33 rides the Cloud into Australia

US Cloud vendor dips its feet into the Australian market as part of overseas push

As the technology industry focuses its attention on the CeBIT event in Sydney, Cloud provider, OS33, is using the event as a springboard to drum up interest in its expansion to Australia.

OS33 Australia country manager, Damien Stephens, said the New York-based Cloud vendor decided to extend its reach Down Under after doing well in Canada and similar markets to Australia.

“The decision came about following the communications we had with OS33’s president, Jacob Kazakevich, who could see that Australia was the next market for the company’s Cloud platform,” he said.

As for why OS33 is entering the Australian market now, Stephens said the launch date was in fact brought forward in order to time it with the start of CeBIT, which is viewed as Australia's premiere ICT event of the year.

“We’ve been working for some time on deploying local instances of a product over here, because we recognise the importance of data security and the issues that Australians have with other Cloud platforms hosted overseas,” he said.

OS33 director of marketing, Paul Angelides, feels that the timing for the move is right.

He said it had seen growing interest from Australian businesses through the company’s efforts in North America.

“Demand has been on the increase and Australia was a place for us to look at,” he said.

“We met with Damien and it was a good opportunity for us to work with him to satisfy some the demand that we’ve been getting.”

As for how Australia fits into overall business strategy of OS33, Angelides admits that the main market is still North America and Canada.

However, he does see Australia as an opportunity and as the “next big market” for the company to focus on.

“We also have locations in the UK and Ireland, so we’re slowly growing out of the North American market,” he said.

“We’re very excited to be in Australia and we look forward to growing that business.”
