Brocade names new Asia-Pacific vice-president

Foo promoted to assume top regional role

Networking solutions vendor, Brocade, has promoted Charlie Foo to the role of Asia-Pacific vice-president.

Foo succeeds former Asia-Pacific vice-president, Deb Dutta, to assume the region’s top role.

He will be responsible for charting the company’s overall growth strategy across Asia-Pacific and will report directly to the senior vice-president of worldwide sales, Ian Whiting.

Foo most recently served as Brocade’s Asia-Pacific partner business group senior director, where he was accountable for driving the company’s regional business strategy, as well as leading the partner strategy with distributors, resellers, original equipment manufacturers and global systems integrators across the region.

Whiting said Foo’s experience in building and leading a robust and successful partner organisation for the past five years is instrumental in accelerating its current IP business growth and maintaining the SAN leadership position in the region. “As Asia-Pacific continues to take on an increased significance for our global business, we expect this region will quickly emerge as one of our primary growth engines under Charlie’s leadership,” Whiting said.

According to Foo, he intends to use his deep knowledge of the Asia-Pacific market and experience in creating and implementing partner initiatives and strategies in his new role.

“We are looking forward to the opportunities that Asia-Pacific brings in 2012, particularly in the areas of big data analytics and Cloud services,” he said.

He joined Brocade in January 2007 and is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of sales management and leadership experience.

Prior to joining Brocade, Foo was regional director of channel and alliance for Asia-Pacific and Japan at Veritas-Symantec.

He also previously assumed senior regional leadership positions at IBM Corporation’s Asia Pacific software group, Compaq Computers Asia-Pacific and Singapore Computer Systems.

Foo will be based in Brocade’s Singapore office.
