New York-based FalconStor Software has made a series of new appointments just as it launches version 7.5 of its Virtual Tape Library (VTL).
Suresh Nair has been appointed as general manager and vice president for APAC, having worked at EMC as regional sales director for APAC and Japan, the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) as a regional director for NetApp, McData Corporation as the regional sales director for ASEAN/India, and at Hewlett Packard as regional business director in Asia Pacific.
Vic Masi will be acting as FalconStor’s country manager for A/NZ. His background includes a stint at Oracle for its core infrastructure and fusion middleware operations, as well as Netsuite, where he worked with an inside sales team on specific industries.
FalconStor president and CEO, Jim McNiel, is delighted that Masi has joined the vendor’s executive staff,
"Masi’s first action in his new role has been to expand the regional sales and presales support team," he said.
Masi hopes to build on FalconStor’s momentum in Australia off the back of the FalconStor solution suite, as well as focusing on “innovative” business and sales strategies.
“We also aim to grow the sales and presales team in Sydney and Melbourne,” he said.
In time for the appointments, FalconStor has released VTL 7.5, its back-up and deduplication solution.
Some of the improvements in 7.5 over past versions include better cooperation with Symantec Open Storage Technology (OST), more efficient memory handling, and strengthened security.
FalconStor VTL 7.5 is available now in either software, configured appliance or virtual machine setups, with pricing starting from $2500 to $4500 per terabyte.
