Everytime I call for a cab, it is never on time and I have to continually ring up the taxi service to check on the whereabouts of the taxi allocated to me. I’m sure many of you readers have previously suffered the same fate as I have.
Fret not. Now there is an app that lets you catch the nearest taxi to you and keep track of it till it arrives at your doorstep.
The goCatch app is simple to use and uses a mapping technology to show you a list of cabs that are nearby to you.
You can then connect to the taxi driver of your choice directly and watch your taxi approach you on your mobile device.
The app will soon allow taxi drivers to change the taxi availability status as well as retrieve passenger destination and pick-up information prior to accepting or rejecting a job – currently, this service is only available on the iPhone.
This app was reviewed on a Nokia Lumia 800.
Pros: Eliminates the need of having to call up the taxi service to check up on your taxi dispatch.
Cons: The driver version is currently only available for the iPhone.
Verdict: Makes the whole process of getting a taxi easier and less complicated.
