Big W is undercutting Apple's RRP for the new iPad, which went on sale in Australia today.

Big W is officially the cheapest place in Australia to buy a new iPad, beating Target to the punch by just a single dollar. Big W will sell the entry-level 16GB Wi-Fi version of the new iPad for $498, a saving of $41 compared to Apple's RRP of $539. Target will sell the same model for $499.

"Big W customers already know we are the destination store for high quality technology at great prices and this includes the full range of Apple iPads for significantly less than our competitors," said director of Big W, Julie Coates.

"Big W is one of Australia’s largest sellers of iPads and we were excited to open selected stores in Sydney and Melbourne at midnight to give our customers the chance to be among the first in the world to get their hands on the new iPad."

Big W's new iPad prices are listed below:

iPad 16GB — Wi-Fi $498
iPad 32GB — Wi-Fi $628
iPad 64GB — Wi-Fi $748

iPad 16GB — Wi-Fi + 4G $668
iPad 32GB — Wi-Fi + 4G $778
iPad 64GB — Wi-Fi + 4G $858

Target's new iPad prices are listed below:

Big W and Target are among a wide list of retailers who are selling the new iPad. The list includes Apple's official retail stores, Dick Smith (DSE), JB Hi-Fi, Myer and The Good Guys. Additionally, Telstra, Optus and Vodafone also sell the new tablet.
