Altech Computers has given up on partnering with New Zealand distributors and will open its own direct office towards the end of the year.
Altech Computers marketing manager, Safa Joumaa, said the company had difficulty finding a New Zealand representative.
"We signed up Geeks Direct last year and the original owners promised good figures but didn't come through on that promise," he said.
Geeks Direct was set up by Grant Ovenden last year to act as the New Zealand arm of Altech and was sold in January to new owners.
Joumaa said Altech wouldstill deal with the business but only as a reseller.
"We are having real trouble finding a committed distributor so it is probably going to be easier to open up a New Zealand office," he said.
The office would order through Altech in Australia but products would be shipped directly to New Zealand to keep costs down, he said.
