DSL broadband provider, iiNet is searching for Australia’s TopGeek 2.0 through a series of challenges designed to test gaming, fandom, creativity and Internet skills.
Aspiring contestants may submit their entries via the iiNet TopGeek website. The winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the US to attend one of four ‘geek’ events: ComicCon, CES, South by Southwest, or Penny Arcade Expo.
iiNet communications manager, Anthony Fisk, said, “No matter what you are into, if you are passionate about something you can be considered a geek, which is why we have introduced a variety of entry categories including art, tech, gaming, Internet and fandom.”
As part of this year’s competition, iiNet is introducing TopGeek TV, a fortnightly series scheduled to air from March 30 through to May 10, 2012. The series will be hosted by comedian, Lawrence Leung, and will explore the stories behind both the contest and finalists.
The announcement of TopGeek 2.0 follows the success of 2011’s inaugural contest, where comic artist, Cassandra James, took out first place. James will be attending ComicCon 2012 in San Diego.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
