iiNet branches into Darwin and regional Queensland

ISP to target nearly 40,000 new customers with fast broadband

iiNet has announced its expansion into Darwin and regional Queensland in supplying ADSL2+ broadband to as many as 38,500 new households.

The ISP claims it is the first to offer ADSL2+ broadband services using the Internet infrastructure in the region built as part of the Australian Government’s Regional Backbone Blackspots Program.

Casuarina, Nightcliff and Palmerston in Darwin and Dalby, Emerald and Mount Isa are the areas covered by the expansion.

In a release, iiNet CEO, Michael Malone, said “while we’re looking forward to the NBN rolling out around the country, it will take time so we’re making sure more households and businesses can enjoy the benefits of superfast broadband in the meantime.”

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
