Telstra BigPond has partnered up with Microsoft to officer customers its email service with additional features without the need to change email address.
Telstra will provide its 4.2 million mailboxes with: Microsoft Hotmail and Office Web apps, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SkyDrive for storing and sharing files and documents; Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Photo Gallery and Movie Maker for creating, editing, and sharing photos and movies.
Telstra executive director of media for applications and user experience, J.B. Rousselot, said, “The value for BigPond customers is that Hotmail offers a fast, secure and reliable email service – but this is so much more than just email.”
The changeover will not jeopardise emails, contacts, or calendars - all of this will remain the same. Likewise, there are no additional charges for the services.
“To assist customers we have set up a dedicated ‘self help’ website including ‘how to’ videos, Q&A’s, and updates on progress of the changeover,” he added.
Customers can also access Telstra’s media channels and the 13-POND hotline for additional assistance.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
