Australian digital marketing agency, Next Digital, has acquired South-East Asian digital marketing agency, FutureLab Asia, as part of its growth strategy in Asia.
The deal will mean that FutureLab Asia’s social media strategy skills will be integrated into service offering across Next Digital’s three Australian offices and its three Asian offices in Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai and Singapore.
Next Digital CEO, Andrew Burke, expects the acquisition to strengthen the agency’s social strategies for clients, as well as amplifying the core digital strategy, creative, web, e-commerce, mobile and digital marketing services it offers.
“This acquisition will enable Next Digital to improve the way we deliver on the social media needs of our clients, and reinforces our focus on becoming a creative leader in Australia and the wider region,” he said.
FutureLab Asia's portfolio of clients includes brands such as game developer Maxis, pharmaceutical group Johnson & Johnson, airline AirAsia and store chain 7-Eleven, and the agency will be rebranded as Next Digital as part of the acquisition.
FutureLab Asia founders, Janet Teo and Vic Sithasanan, will become CEO of Next Digital Kuala Lumpur and CEO of Next Digital Singapore respectively.
“We are exceptionally proud to have these two talented and passionate professionals driving the Next Digital business in the ASEAN region,” Burke said.
According to Burke, Next Digital will continue to expand its digital offering in the Asian market and ramp up its scale in order to compete with global agencies.
