ICT infrastructure services provider, UXC Connect, has secured a deal to provide its Campsite Entertainment Solution to four remote mining camps across the Pilbara in Western Australia.
Worth over $8 million in total, the deal will consist of UXC Connect rolling out its entertainment package to more than 3000 rooms across four campsite locations in the Pilbara region.
Thousands of workers in the resource and energy industry are expected to benefit from the solution, which consists of IPTV, video-on-demand, IP telephony, Internet to the room capabilities and Internet kiosks located in common areas across an IP network.
UXC Connect CEO, Ian Poole, attributes the company’s 10 years of experience in delivering in-room entertainment to four and five star hotels as the reason for securing the deal. “We are delighted to be working closely with Pindan to deliver our innovative solutions into these vital projects, that provide a valuable resource to the mining camps and adds great value to the remote workers so they can keep in touch with their families and communities at home,” he said.
Two of the contracts were granted by construction company, Pindan, which operates mining campsites across the remote regions of Western Australia. According to Poole, implementation of the new projects is set to commence in early 2012 and completion is expected by June 2012.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
