BigCommerce and Samsung announce senior management appointments

Harner to BigCommerce, Lenior to Samsung

Former Atlassian vice president, Soren Harner, has joined SaaS e-commerce platform, BigCommerce, as vice-resident of engineering.

Harner will oversee design, development and testing strategy with a team of over 25 engineers from the company’s Sydney headquarters.

BigCommerce co-founder, Eddie Machaalani, said, “Harner’s experience is second to none. He understands how to hire, motivate and challenge the best engineers and how to build remarkable software that scales. We’re excited to have him join our executive team.”

The company has big growth plans for 2012, including doubling its headcount to 200 people, of which 50 will be Sydney-based engineers.

To achieve those numbers, it is currently hiring more than 20 software engineers in Sydney. Information can be found through its website.

BigCommerce recently announced its $15,000,000 series A financing round from Boston-based investor, General Catalyst.

Semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media, and digital convergence technologies provider, Samsung Electronics Australia has appointed Arno Lenior as its marketing director.

With 20 years of marketing experience and expertise from a range of organisations, Lenior will lead the Australian Corporate and Marketing Communications team across all product divisions, including audio visual, mobile, home appliance, IT, and digital imaging.

Previous, Lenior led marketing strategies for Lion Nathan as marketing director of premium brands and innovation, where he was responsible of the Cannes Gold Lion award winning campaigns for Boag’s ‘Pure Waters’ and Speight’s ‘Great Beer Delivery’.

He also held roles at Gateway, NEC, and Toshiba.

Most recently, Lenior founded and ran his own strategic consultancy business, working with clients such as Air New Zealand and Virgin Mobile, and partnered in an import and distribution company in premium alcoholic beverages.

Samsung Electronics Australia managing director, Mr. Yoon, said, “Following years of experience working across prominent brands, Lenior’s strategic marketing expertise will be a valuable asset to Samsung.”

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
