Acer Computer Australia has named Antonio Leone as its latest product business manager for tablet PCs.
The role was formerly filled by David Niu.
As his first point of focus, Leone will oversee the launch and go-to market of Acer’s new Iconia tablet range running on Google Android 4.0, also known as Ice-Cream Sandwich operating system.
“We will have a roll-out of a few new models over the coming months and introduce new technologies there. So our aim is to educate, inform our channel and equip them to go against competition and support the product,” Leone said.
In the long run, he plans to increase the penetration and awareness of the tablet across both the retail and commercial markets, as well as cement its position within the company’s overall portfolio.
Leone's spent more than 11 years at Acer in various mobile product marketing roles before switching to Epson Australia for more than five years as its consumer inkjet business marketing manager, focusing on the retail space.
He said that he was pleased to return to Acer and aims to aid the company in improving the Iconia starter pack, particularly with the advent of the forthcoming new version of the Android operating system.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
