Netgear’s Genie application has been recognised as an honouree in the software and mobile app category at the CES Innovations 2012 Design and Engineering Awards.
According to Netgear A/NZ senior director of consumer channels, Brad Little, Genie’s advanced features such as guest networks, parental controls and DLNA media sharing made it stand out from the competition.
“We are thrilled that the Netgear Genie application has been honoured among some of the industry’s leading developers,” he said.
Genie is a desktop application that enables a user to monitor, control and repair home networks through a simple dashboard.
Netgear is offering the application for free for the WNDR3800 and WNDR4500 range of routers, with compatibility for additional devices already planned for future releases. Earlier in the year, the networking vendor offered a new hardware replacement service to its customers.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
