2011 Sydney New Year's Eve
Cost: Free | Developer: City of Sydney and Lookout Mobile | Platform: iOS | Version 2.0.2 | 9.9MB | 4.0+
Want the best spot in the house to watch one of the best fireworks in the world? Want to be the first to know everything about Sydney New Year’s Eve? This is the app you need.
The 2011 Sydney New Year’s Eve app uses an interactive map to distinguish the best vantage points to watch the Sydney fireworks – including information on transportation to the venue and services at each site.
It features best tips on how to plan your night, providing transport info, road closure information, after-midnight party options and details on vantage points.
Text messages will be sent to you with information such as when the vantage points are full and important updates to help you get around and keep you in the know.
You can even take a photo on your phone and submit it to win exclusive prizes or film and share twelve seconds of footage from your New Year’s Eve celebrations. The best will be used by Tourism Australia to create a short-film shared worldwide.
This app was tested on an iPhone 4.
Pros: Lets you plan your activities in preparation of the new year.
Cons: Would have been better if it incorporated a resolutions page.
Verdict: The best tool to help you get the best of your NYE celebrations.
