ACCC seeks public comment on Telstra plan

Submissions on the revised plan close on January 13, and a final decision is due in February.

The competition watchdog is inviting comment on Telstra's revised plan to separate its retail and wholesale arms.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Friday issued a discussion paper on an updated undertaking on the separation submitted by Telstra.

The commission wants comment on measures in the plan, including a commitment not to gouge retail competitors in pricing.

In August, the watchdog said Telstra's original proposal did not include a required compliance plan for the telco's structural separation from the designated day.

The commission also had concerns about aspects of agreements Telstra had made with NBN Co, the company building the national broadband network.

Telstra signed a $11 billion deal in June allowing NBN Co access to its existing fibre network, pipes, ducts and other infrastructure.

Submissions on the revised plan close on January 13, and a final decision is due in February.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
