The latest on new releases and partnerships

Yellowfin 6 now available on market

Global Business Intelligence (BI) software vendor, Yellowfin, has announced the general availability of its new release, the Yellowfin 6.

Yellowfin 6 includes the company’s new iPad application and a number of consumer-oriented User Interface (UI) solutions that aim to change the way people develop and consume BI content.

The release’s major additions and enhancements include: a new native application for the iPad, an in-app ‘inbox’, syndicated dashboards, drilling of all data sources and types within a database and improvements to the drag and drop report builder.

Yellowfin CEO, Glen Rabie, said, “Yellowfin 6 takes advantage of the latest in consumer Web technologies to present enterprise data in a way that empowers people of all business backgrounds to conduct independent data analysis, build reports, share and act on data.”

Rabie added that the Yellowfin’s new iPad app for Mobile BI was responding to the consumerisation of BI and the need for greater Return On Investment (ROI) for BI projects.

Yellowfin 6 is available from the Yellowfin website.

ShoreTel Enterprise Contact Centre achieves VMware Ready status

Unified Communications provider, ShoreTel’s Enterprise Contact Centre (ECC) solution has achieved VMware Ready status.

This designation indicates that ShoreTel has passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and is now listed as a VMware partner product.

The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program.

It enables ShoreTel’s Enterprise Contact Centre for deployment in customer environments.

Customers are able to choose the implementation model that best fits their business – regardless of if they prefer a virtualised model or a more traditional approach.

“ShoreTel support for VMware extends beyond the core IP PBX UC and now includes the Contact Centre as well so customers can leverage their VMware environment even more broadly,” ShoreTel chief marketing officer, Kevin Gavin, said.

The solution aims to enable customers to take further advantage of virtualisation benefits, such as better server utilisation, centralised deployment for more efficient applications management, and improved business continuity.

IMC Communications director, Matt Dixon, said, “We work hard to ensure business continuity for our clients with our Managed Service solution NetActive; this new partnership will further enhance that ability for our clients.”

Business productivity vendor, Mindjet, has released Mindjet for Android, its first foray into the Android app market.

The app is similar to Mindjet’s recently released Mindjet iOS app in terms of its functionality for ease and power of mapping on the go. Like the iOS apps, Mindjet for Android is available as a free download from the Android Market. Some of its features include: productivity on the go, brainstorming capabilities, note taking capabilities, informing and aligning teams via a central repository for information and anytime access to data.

LifeSize joins VMware Technology Alliance Partner program

LifeSize vice-president of product marketing, Michael Helmbrecht, said, “Our firewall traversal solution, LifeSize Transit and our desktop and mobile solution, LifeSize ClearSea, both run on VMware virtualisation technology.
