Telstra has named former AXA CEO of Asia-Pacific, Andrew Penn, as the replacement to the telco’s outgoing chief financial officer (CFO), John Stanhope.
Stanhope announced his retirement in June after 40 years of service. He oversaw the shareholder vote on the $11 billion Telstra deal with NBN in October and he will be leaving his post at the end of the year.
Penn will be taking over the Telstra CFO position in 1 March 2012. Mark Hall will be the interim CFO from 1 January to 29 February next year.
The former AXA Asia-Pacific head has had experience as chief executive and CFO over his 30 year career as well as a variety of roles during his 20-year tenure at AXA. Penn became CEO of investment and insurance group's Asia-Pacific arms in 2006.
The new CFO will report to Telstra CEO, David Thodey, and will be based in Melbourne.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
