Logicalis picks CA Technologies for private cloud services

CA Technologies has been selected by Logicalis UK, part of the international ICT solutions integrator, to help provide private cloud services for a number of its FTSE 250 and public sector customers.

Logicalis UK has selected CA's Automation Suite for Clouds as its preferred private cloud solution, claiming that this will help customers deploy private clouds quickly and at a reduced cost. The suite enables Logicalis to implement cloud services across any hardware or virtualisation platform, simplifying migration from non-virtualised or virtualised environments.

"Our strategy is to allow customers to think about the delivery of ICT services not about managing an underlying cloud infrastructure," said Chris Gabriel, marketing director at Logicalis UK. "Only CA Technologies has the same vision and ability to deliver solutions that enable this significant and important transition."

According to CA, the Automation Suite helps customers optimise resources and reduce costs through "dynamic orchestration and workload management" to automate the entire cloud service workflow and lifecycle. It allows customers to leverage private cloud as a single platform for consistent IT service delivery.

The suite also provides insight into service metering, billing and reporting capabilities, and supports fixed or usage-based pricing, a billing and financial reporting engine and integrated chargeback. This enables customers to quickly and securely provision and de-provision their own resources and services without the need to directly involve their internal IT department.

Logicalis has worked with CA Technologies in the past, and already manages the delivery and performance of its Cooperative Enterprise Cloud Service on CA Technologies' service automation, service assurance, and energy and sustainability management solutions.

CA Automation Suite for Clouds was released in July 2011. It is comprised of CA Server Automation, CA Virtual Automation, CA Process Automation, CA Configuration Automation and CA Service Catalog.

Last month CA launched its CloudMinder portfolio of cloud-based identity and access control services. The portfolio is tied to user management and service provisioning, access, reporting, single-sign-on and standards-based federation linked to policies for identity-provider control.
