Optus MeTV with fetch
Cost: Free | Developer: Optus Mobile | Platform: iOS | Version 1.0 | 5.4MB | 4.2+
Optus has launched the Optus MeTV with fetch app, a dedicated app offering flexibility and convenience when managing an Optus MeTV account.
The app provides you with on-the-go access to movie and TV programming information, as well as the ability to record your favourite shows from anywhere, anytime while on the Web. It enables you to schedule recordings on your set-top box at home no matter where you are. You can use the app to watch movie trailers on your device and share updates on the content you are viewing via FaceBook and Twitter. Movie trailers viewed on the app will be unmetered for existing Optus mobile customers when paired with an Optus MeTV set top box.
When connected to your home wireless network, you can also utilise your device as a remote control for channel-changing, volume setting, play, pause, record or navigate the Optus MeTV user interface. Optus MeTV with fetch is a new on-demand TV service that gives you the control to choose what you want to watch and when you want to watch it. The service is available to Optus fixed and mobile customers for $9.95 per month.
This app was reviewed on an iPhone 4.
Pros: Once paired with the Optus MeTV set-top box, Optus Mobile customers using the app on the Optus 3G network do not pay any data charges for the ongoing use of it (except whilst roaming).
Cons: Does not have an Android version yet, but will be made available in early 2012.
Verdict: Enables you to watch all your favourite content and gives you control of all your viewing needs.
