Network vendor, Emerson Network Power, has secured a deal with the company behind the national broadband roll out, NBN Co, worth more than $100 million.
Under the deal Emerson will design, supply, install and commission 10 network facility centres across Australia as part of the NBN rollout.
The centres will be stationed in capital cities and provide training facilities, equipment and operational depots.
Emerson telecom Asia vice-president, Ross Campbell, said it will ensure the facilities offer levels of energy efficiency, reliability and management functionality that will help keep the network operational.
The deal includes the use of Emerson’s high-efficiency power systems - Trinergy and ASCO; Liebert precision cooling systems and SmartAisle optimisation; SiteScan infrastructure monitoring and management; and fully integrated, factory-tested modular housing systems.
NBN Co head of network operations, Steve Christian, said the infrastructure Emerson will supply plays an important role in making sure the NBN will reach all homes and businesses.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
