Acer is extending portable display capabilities with the introduction of its C110 pico-projector.
The lightweight (175g) and compact (110x85x25mm) unit removes the need for power adapters and display connectivity, using a single USB cable to connect instantly. The cost of such convenience must be considered, though, as the product is powered by the laptop it is plugged into.
The C110 offers a WVGA 854x460 resolution display in native 16:9 format, producing images ranging from 12 to 100 inches in size at a 1000-to-one contrast ratio with 50 ANSI lumens. It comes installed with DLP technology and an LED lamp for longer lamp life (up to 20,000 hours).
The included Acer SmartFormat software supports a wide range of PC formats and the Quick Start features allows for rapid five-second loading after connection. The Acer InstantPack also means that it can be packed away without waiting for a cooling period.
The C110 pico-projector is available from all major retailers for $299.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
