IIA hunts for new CEO

Steve Burrell decided not to take up the post citing personal reasons.

Internet Industry Association (IIA), is on the hunt for a new CEO after Steve Burrell decided not to step into the role.

Burrell was meant to begin his duties at the start of September following the retirement of Peter Coroneos, but a statement from the IIA said Burrell didn’t take up the post for personal reasons.

IIA chairman, Bruce Linn, said it received a high number of applicants during the recruitment process and the position will be filled soon.

Burrell lead AICD's strategic communications and media relations, government relations and policy advocacy.

He was a former business journalist and held editorial roles with the Australian Financial Review and Sydney Morning Herald.

He was also a policy adviser in the Federal Treasury.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
