Trend Micro partners with Synnex

Extends Australian presence by appointing Synnex as its third distributor

Security vendor, Trend Micro, has added a third distribution partner, Synnex, in Australia.

Under the deal, Synnex will distribute the full packaged and OEM hardware attached products of Trend Micro’s software product suites in Australia. They include a range of Internet security and digital lifestyle protection software programs

As part of Trend Micro's Australian growth strategy, the contract will see Synnex extending its current relationships with both the channel and national retailers and providing Trend Micro with access to more than 8000 resellers throughout Australia.

Trend Micro Australia managing director, Dave Patnaik said the company decided to expand its local coverage with Synnex to ensure it increases its OEM hardware products’ business.

It will also capture an extensive retail and channel market including local PC builders and channel resellers.

“We have channel partners and reseller markets within Australia that are asking for consumer products and OEM hardware attached products. The partnership benefits Trend Micro because we will be able to provide to their requirements,” Patnaik said.

He added that national retailers, especially Tier 2 retailers, will benefit the most from the partnership.

Trend Micro will continue its distribution agreements with its other distribution partners, Ingram Micro, which supplies the whole range of Trend Micro’s products from its consumer to high-end enterprise licensing range, and iTX, which will focus on the company’s commercial licensing business.

Synnex Australia CEO, Kee Ong, said distributing Trend Micro’s range of products will allow it to offer a wider choice of security software to its local customers.

“We also look forward to further strengthening Trend Micro’s position in the country through using our industry experience and our retail and channel network,” he said.
