iiNet
Cost: Free | Developer: iiNet | Platform: iPad/ iPhone | Version 1.5 | 9.8 MB | iOS 3.0 required
Usually, I'm not a fan of these apps that banks, Internet companies and mobile phone providers churn out. Yes, they're useful for checking your account on the go, or seeing how close your month's data is to running out, but they're usually quite barebones about it.
iiNet's app is different. iiNet's app is a whole load of fun. To get the functions out the way first up - it does indeed allow you to check all your account data. But that's not why you'll use this.
The app also has iiNet's "Freezone" linked to it. This unmetered content ranges across a whole gamut of information and entertainment content, and it's a hugely underrated service that does help iiNet stand out from the pack.
So, thanks to this app, you have access to TED talks, Transformers, Roger Ramjet and He Man cartoons for the kids (or the adults in a nostalgic mood), Bloomberg news when it's time to work, and a bunch of documentaries as well as a small range of sports programs.
All of that is completely unmetered; it won't count towards your monthly download limit if you're accessing it via WiFi on your iPhone or iPad so if you do wish to stream Bloomberg the whole day, you can.
Pros: It's presented well, and for a free app, the quality of the content is superb.
Cons: As great as Freezone is, there are some areas it could stand to improve in a lot. The sporting content is quite poor, for instance.
Verdict: Even if I wasn't an iiNet customer, this app would be worth the download.
