Eaton’s 5PX is a first line interactive UPS that combines power protection with power and energy management functionalities. The 5PX meters the energy consumption of devices protected by the UPS and its large, intuitive LCD display provides IT managers with manageability.

The 5PX features a power factor (pf) of 0.9 – enabling it to provide 28 per cent more power compared to traditional UPSs with a 0.7pf. A successor to the Eaton Evolution S, this next-generation UPS has a power range of 1.5 to 3 kVA, which offers high-density protection for IT devices such as servers, switchers, routers and storage devices.

It also allows consumers to meter energy consumption down to the socket-group level. The measurements can be monitored through the LCD or via the network with Eaton’s power management software. The administrators will have an accurate efficiency measure of each UPS installed and the energy usage of the various pieces of equipment protected, maximising the efficiency of the server room and reducing energy costs.

The output socket groups can also be individually controlled to provide load-shedding to maximise backup time and provide remote reboot and sequential start-up. The unique combination of control and energy measurement adds the functionality of an advanced Rack Power Distribution Unit within the UPS, saving space and money.

The 5PX configuration allows administrators to change UPS parameters right on the screen, making it unnecessary to connect the UPS to a PC for configuration. It also includes the possibility of monitoring the UPS through the network with Eaton’s Intelligent Power software.
