Independent manufacturer of memory products, Kingston, has gone an environmentally-conscious tinge of green and created the Kingston Earth Angel USB drive to stir awareness and appreciation for the earth's natural environment.

The entire net profit generated from the sales of the USB drive will be donated to World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF).

Available in 4GB capacity only within the Asia-Pacific region, it is made and packed using environmentally friendly materials – the USB drive is packed with recycled paper and printed with environmentally friendly ink.

Its other specifications include: backwards compatibility with USB 2.0 and system support of Windows 7, Window Vista, Windows XP, Mac OS X version 10.5.x and above and Linux v2.6.x and above.

Kingston Technology vice-president of Asia-Pacific, Scott Chen, said the product was created to further secure and improve the biological and living environment following ecological environment destruction, which caused damages to earth, and natural disasters that have threatened people’s lives.

It is also backed by a five-year warranty and free tech support. The Earth Angel USB costs $16.50 and $NZ18.50, available from distributors Avnet Australia, Ingram Micro, Simms International, Synnex Australia, Ingram Micro NZ, Synnex NZ and Simms NZ.

Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
