The new screen at Sydney Football Stadium
Panasonic’s new semi-permanent LED stadium screen has been successfully outfitted at the Sydney Football Stadium (SFS).
The 45sqm screen has been employed at the SFS to further enhance the stadium experience for incoming crowds by displaying the on-field action.
“With the improved quality of television broadcasts and excellent technology now available in the home, venues must deliver something special,” Panasonic Australia business systems group director, Mark Deere-Jones, said.
“We are delighted the new screen has been well received and are proud to see this operating at one of Sydney’s most popular sporting grounds.”
The large LED screen, standing 5.12m high x 8.704m wide, was already employed during the ANZAC Day NRL match between St. George Illawarra Dragons and the Sydney Roosters.
Highlight reels of past Roosters vs. Dragons ANZAC Day games at the SFS were shown during the game, as well as Telstra’s “Messages to the Troops", a United History television commercial from the Roosters, and other NRL-targeted advertising.
“We are always looking to enhance our fans’ experience and ensure their time at the SFS and SCG is memorable and exciting,” SCG trust chief executive, Jamie Barkley, said.
“The new video screen was well received by fans as they were able to enjoy the match day atmosphere even before they entered the stadium.”
In addition to giving Rugby League fans at the SCG a content-rich, digital experience, the screen also has the capability of being dismantled and moved to use at the nearby Sydney Cricket Ground.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
