Watchguard expands footprint with reseller recruitment

Security vendor, Watchguard, has gone on a reseller recruitment blitz, bringing on five new partners.

The company has signed CMS IT, Datamerge, Enterprise IT, Integrated Solutions, and One Technology.

With Watchguard releasing new capabilities around technologies such as application control, data loss prevention (DLP) and content filtering, it wanted to have additional resources to target these markets.

“Application control is a rather new concept in the world of security,” Watchguard vice-president for channels and alliances, Scott Robertson, said. “We are starting to provide IT departments with control over user access to Web applications such as Facebook and Twitter as well as to webmail sites like Gmail and Hotmail.”

These capabilities are now included the vendor’s XTM and XCM appliance range.

“The new partners have shown interest in the technology and have skilled themselves up to be able to sell it into the market,” Robertson said. “As a vendor of our size, we are always looking for partners to bring into our fold but it is important for them to be committed to the technology, understand the solutions and how to support the customer base.”

The vendor is also pushing harder into the enterprise sector and larger integrators will help Watchguard achieve its goal, according to Robertson.

The vendor will reveal more details of its new sales incentive scheme and an improved reseller training program on April 1.
