Distribution Central has expanded its business, opening a new office in ACT.
It marks the fourth office for the distributor which has appointed Denise Stathis as the head of the new branch.
Distribution Central has offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
Distribution Central sales and marketing manager, Nick Verykios, said it was previously servicing all of its different business units through Sydney and had about five staff travelling constantly to the state.
“The workload got to a point where it just made sense to have a local representative coordinating all the efforts for the five staff that were servicing the territory,” Verykios said. “It would have happened earlier, but I wanted to get the right person.”
He said the amount of business it was doing in Canberra has grown, and warranted the extra investment. Over time, it will build up staff numbers in the state, adding technical expertise.
Stathis has previously held senior positions with LAN Systems, and was instrumental in helping to set up its ACT at the time.
The distributor’s staff numbers have grown to 100 this financial year, up from 86 at the end of the previously financial year.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.

Canberra has always been a great IT market where local knowledge of the people and politics involved made a big difference. Why did it take so long for the only big Australian national IT disty to set up a real presence in Canberra? I am sure Denise is worth waiting for but you lost a lot of business by not having someone there over the last few years.

I think the WA office has been effectively closed for some time now at least there are no staff there as far as I know. Just saying that's all..."
