Amazon is thought to be preparing to offer its Prime customers the chance to stream movies and TV shows over the Internet.
Following the etailer's acquisition of online and by-post movie rental service Love Film last month, Amazon posted a message on a web page that hinted at the move.
According to Engadget, which captured the page, the message read: "Your Amazon Prime membership now includes unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows at no additional cost".
However, the page was quickly removed. Amazon has yet to comment on the rumours but a source told the Financial Times the company had been working on the streaming service.
Amazon Prime costs 49 per year and offers web users free delivery on a hst of items sold by the website.
Nominations for the 2012 ARN IT Industry Awards open on Tuesday, June 12.
